Ways to Go Green in Your Bathroom – Part 2
Bathrooms can be wasteful and even toxic places in more ways than one, so here is part 2 of our series, naming 6 ways you can be more sustainable when you suds up
1. Plastic-Free Shampoo and Conditioners

2. PEVA or fabric shower curtain
PEVA, or polyethylene vinyl acetate, is still plastic-- however, it contains significantly fewer VOCs (volatile organic compounds) than standard vinyl shower curtains, and is chlorine free so is better for our health. They are also washable in the washing machine.

3. Organic Cotton Towels
Cotton is one of the world’s most heavily sprayed crops. About 25% of the world's insecticides are used on cotton. Commonly used insecticides include organophosphates, pyrethroids, and neonicotinoids, which have all been associated with harmful impacts on human health (especially the nervous system) and the environment.

4. Organic cotton buds
Why? Again, because nobody wants pesticides in their ears. You are not only protecting yourself from pesticide exposure, but by supporting organic farms that are doing the right thing, you are also helping to protect the rest of the planet and stop people in farming communities from having their water be contaminated with harmful chemicals.

5. Eco-friendly Shower Cap
Want to take a shower without wrecking your hair-do? Most show caps are made of plastic, but there are alternatives. Such as this one that is made from plastic picked up from rivers.

6. Avoid Polyester and plastic bath mats
You might not think you are supporting oil fields when you purchase a mat, but polyester is made of plastic, which is made of petrochemicals. Go fossil-free by choosing alternatives.
